Vanilla Peppermint Creamer
Homemade vanilla peppermint creamer makes a great Christmas gift. It’s a flavorful addition to coffee or hot chocolate and is appreciated by coffee lovers.
You can make this pretty Christmas gift with just two ingredients and ten minutes.
Not only is this a pretty gift to give to friends and school teachers, it’s a great stress reliever!
I mean, any recipe that allows you to pound out your frustrations on the kitchen counter is a winner in that regard!
Crush those peppermint candies … use your meat tenderizing mallet, a heavy ice cream scoop or the hammer from your tool box. I have a ice cream scoop I bought from Avon years ago that has a nice weight to it. That’s how I crushed the peppermints for this recipe.
I picked up a bag of star mints, you know you can find them practically anywhere candy is sold. You could use the left over candy canes from your kid’s stockings.
While I was crushing the candy, I placed it in a zip top plastic bag and wrapped it in a dish towel. That kept the candy from splattering all over the kitchen.
Variations:
Crush up any of your favorite holiday candies. Green spearmint bits, hard toffee candies, butterscotch ovals or even red hot cinnamon pieces.
All of these sweet treats will make a delightful creamer to add to your hot beverage.
Make It a Meal:
Since coffee (or hot chocolate) creamer isn’t really part of a meal, add a jar of this to one of these recipes for food gifts: Pumpkin Spice Latte, Coconut Raisin Cookies, Death by Chocolate Cookies, or Mason Jar Brownies.
A gift basket of homemade goodies is always appreciated. You could add a small can of coffee, a coffee mug and a good book to really make somebody’s day.
If that seems like too much effort, just add a gift card to the local coffee shop to the package and call it done.
To give this homemade vanilla peppermint creamer as a gift, package it in a jar and add a bit of ribbon. I like to use canning jars for gift giving, because they are easily reused after the gift is gone.
However, you can find a great variety of pretty jars and canisters available. My local Dollar Tree has a nice collection, as do the Hobby Lobby and Ikea stores. Of course, there are a million options online.
