Valentine Brownies
Valentine’s Day and chocolate go hand in hand. I am not sure whoever came up with the idea that love is expressed with chocolate, but I am not arguing with that tradition!
This is a nice treat to make for the school Valentine’s party or to just share with your family. Of course, if you’re taking these to the school party, you will probably want to double the recipe. I have never met any group who can eat like elementary school students!
If you really want to impress your Valentine, cut the brownies with a heart cookie cutter before icing. Then serve the brownie on top of their favorite ice cream!
Valentine Brownies Recipe
Ingredients:
1 15 oz Brownie Mix
2 Eggs
3 TB Water
¼ c Oil
2 TB Butter
¼ c Milk
1 c Powdered Sugar
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Prepare the brownie mix with the eggs, water and oil or as described on the package. Place a layer of wax paper in the bottom of 9×13 baking dish. Spread brownie mix over waxed paper and bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Allow brownies to cool and remove from pan. Cut into 1 inch by 2 inch squares and place on wire rack.
Melt butter in a small pan and add the milk. Mix in the powdered sugar, adding more as needed until the icing runs slowly off the spoon. Icing will be similar to cut out cookie icing. Drizzle over brownies.

Make It a Meal: Served with a glass of milk or a cup of coffee, these make a great afternoon snack.
Variations: Sprinkle with red sugar or add red hot heart candies. Add a drop or two of red food coloring to turn the icing pink.
Some brownie mixes come with extra goodies in the mix chocolate chunks, pecans and walnuts for example. This recipe works with any packaged brownies. If you want the extra richness, pick up a box with those goodies added in. Of course, the icing on these brownies adds a layer of sweetness, so you can get by with the basic mix.
Brownies will keep for a week when stored in an airtight container. If you freeze them, wrap brownies in waxed paper and place in plastic zip top storage bag. Frozen brownies will keep for up to a month.
