My dogs actually like this one is a little hesitant but eventually will take it but I’ve seen a difference they even act happier i take it for my stomach and I can tell a difference I wish I would of known about it years ago thanks for the recipe I just didn’t see how often I can give it to them so I just do in morning and at night please respond how many times a day is good to give them thank you God bless

    • Tawnya,
So glad to hear your dogs are seeing the benefits from this Golden Turmeric Paste. We give a bit with each meal, so our dogs get a spoonful morning and evening. You can test it and see if one dose per day is helpful, then stay at that level. If they do better with two doses, the step up to that. Think of it like a maintenance dose of aspirin for humans – some people’s discomfort is eliminated with a single dose, others have a higher level of discomfort and need two.

Another option for you is to give two small doses daily, to keep the same level of turmeric in their system to metabolize all day/night.

We mix it in the dry food with a little water to make a gravy, that seems to help – they think it’s more of a treat that way.

  2. Only works amazingly. Severe arthritis for myself. I use it everyday. I have two senior cats and both of them get this in their food also. It’s amazing how well this works and even if you’re not a cook you can put this recipe together. If you want to feel better this is definitely something that could work for you it does for me the only difference is I add CBD to my coconut oil cuz I live in Maine.

    • Kathy,
Great question! I haven’t frozen it, because we use a fair amount daily we go through the batch pretty regularly.

However, based on what I know of the ingredients, it should freeze just fine. I would place in small 4-8 oz canning jars (or reuse jam/jelly jars) Smaller sizes because it will be faster to thaw in the fridge…you could place it in ice cube trays if you don’t mind loosing a set of trays to the staining that’s bound to happen.

  4. Hi, I used one and a half cups of water and half a cup of turmeric in the pan and I stood there for almost 30 minutes whisking it. It never turned into a paste. I used number four on my cooktop and it was steaming and starting to very slowly boil. I turned it down to a three, but it never thickened.
Can you please tell me what happened and why??
I checked a few other turmeric paste sites and they said to add one cup of water to half a cup turmeric. I used one and a half cups of water as stated in your recipe. I really don’t want to throw away that half a cup of turmeric…. Any suggestions? Thanks so much

    • Rona,
I’m sorry you had that happen. I have made this paste using this ratio for close to 7 years and never has it failed to thicken.

I usually let it bubble and simmer for a few minutes, that seems to help with the thickening process. It cooks up to a peanut butter / nutella consistency.

If you did that and it remained too runny, I would suggest adding a bit more turmeric in small doses until it does thicken to desired consistency.

      Best,
      Noel

    • Leigh, I honestly can’t say as I haven’t had it stick around that long. We use a lot of this paste. I think the concern would be looking out for spoilage, not so much a loss in effectiveness. The shelf stability of this golden paste is pretty good.

I have been making this for about four years for dog and human use with really good results. If I had bought the turmeric from the supermarket I would have needed a second mortgage. I get mine from a specialist Indian spice supplier at about 5 pounds per kilo. I get pepper from the same source. There are plenty on line. Likewise, coconut oil from Action is very good value. I find that it keeps in the fridge far longer than two weeks.
