Taco Lasagna Simply Delicious
A twist on traditional lasagna, this Mexican style taco lasagna is very filling and nutritious. The fill factor comes from the protein full ingredients. Beans, ground beef, and cheese are primary players in this layered dish.
Southwestern or Mexican flavors take center stage in this popular dish. As the layers stack up, you will find you only need to cut a sliver for each serving. Diners will find themselves wishing they had room to finish a second helping!
This taco lasagna recipe version is fairly mild, however you could turn up the heat by using a spicy salsa, extra chili powder in the ground beef or mix in some banana peppers in your layers.
My family likes a variety of heat levels in their Mexican food, so I provide a mild base and add the extra heat options on the table. Folks can dress up their plate as spicy as they want that way!
Make It a Meal:
Serve this with your favorite Tex-Mex dishes. Some of mine are Nacho Corn Salad, Layered up Nacho Dip, Nacho Grande Boat and Sweet Pepper Salsa.

Like traditional lasagna, this dish takes some effort to prepare. I like to fix it on a weekend when I have more time to spend in the kitchen. However, it is also simple enough to prepare it ahead of time and simply bake the dish on the night you plan to eat it.
Store leftovers in refrigerator for up to a week. This dish freezes ok, but is best eaten during the initial week. If you take this dish to a potluck dinner, do not count on bringing leftovers home!
You would be better off to just make a second dish ahead of time and leave it in your own fridge!
