Simple Apple Danish
This simple apple danish recipe is so easy, anybody can make it. You won’t sacrifice flavor for the simplicity either! Warm out of the oven, this pastry is light, flaky, sweet and spiced; just perfect with a cup of coffee.
Relying on ready to use ingredients, this recipe is the epitome of #ConvenienceCooking. Of course, that’s the beautiful reason it’s called “simple apple danish”.
If you’ve got time, baking skills and patience, you could make a delightful danish from scratch. I would love to be able to do that. There are days when I have the time, and some days when I even have the patience. But most days, I don’t have the baking skills. I’m truly a novice baker.
Since so much of my cooking and baking has to be done around a really busy schedule, I haven’t worked on my baking skills. I’ve found it simpler to just use the easy to fix ingredients like canned apple pie filling and premade croissant dough.
You’ll notice in the pictures, I really didn’t even begin to attempt to hide the fact that I’ve used premade croissant dough. Because really, nobody at my house cares.
However, if you’re looking to make an impression on your family, you could work on sealing the perforations in the dough.
You’ll also notice in these pictures, I’ve got a family heirloom on display. The silver spoons belonged to my great-grandmother. My grandmother passed them along to me, with her hand written notes about what the silver is and who owned it.
I love having that bit of family history recorded in my grandmother’s handwriting.
Grandma was an old fashioned school teacher and her script was nearly perfect. All of her letters are formed exactly according to text book lessons, so she could set a good example for her students.

I’m sure many of my readers are as busy in life as I am. I thought once my kids move out and into their own homes, things would slow down a bit. I mean, no more after school extracurricular activities, no more home work, no more over nights at friends’ houses, no more friends spending the night here, less laundry, fewer errands and running around, no more craziness. Right?
Wrong. I suppose I’ve brought all my current busy-ness on myself, between working full time, blogging, running some etsy stores, helping my husband with our non-profit Rescued Rollers, and taking care of the house and pets. I like having a full life. I’m glad I spent all those years gathering up #ConvenienceCooking recipes!
Make It a Meal:
So, a simple apple danish is more like a snack than a meal. It is a perfect breakfast dish, all you need to add is a cup of coffee or tea and some protein like a spinach quiche, you’ll be set.
This also works well as a dessert. Throw a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top and serve. The apple danish will be similar to the apple croissant cake shown below.
