Pineapple Smothered Chicken – Vintage Recipe
Pineapple smothered chicken is a vintage recipe that’s worth reviving and serving on a regular basis in this millennial age. This slightly sweet, slightly tangy dish will tempt your picky eaters.
Easy enough to prepare for a weeknight supper, you may stop purchasing carry out meals as often with this recipe in your menu rotation.
Using only a few ingredients, that you can purchase at any grocery store, this recipe will become one of your favorite go to meals.
Meals this easy can be made by anyone, no matter your cooking skill level. Honestly, this recipe is that easy.
I served my pineapple smothered chicken with brown rice and the extra sauce poured over top. You could serve with white rice, fried rice, or noodles. Those crunchy rice noodles that come with chow mien would be great!
Because my family likes milder flavors, this dish works really well for us. The onion soup mix has enough flavor without being over powering. If you wanted to spice it up, you could always add some red pepper flakes.
This recipe was printed on the Lipton Onion Soup package originally. My grandma had a copy clipped and saved in her wooden recipe box. It was awfully torn and worn.
That’s the sign of a good recipe.
Make It a Meal:
What do you like with Asian style foods? We generally just add some rice and steamed vegetables, but sometimes an egg roll finds it’s way into the menu.
Other options you could serve with this dish: Beef and Broccoli, Garlic Mushroom Noodles, Spiced Mushrooms, Fruit Topped Cheesecake, and Chai Tea.
