Peppermint Patty Cheesecake
This peppermint patty cheesecake will win the hearts of all who eat it! This rich chocolate topping hides a thin layer of crisp peppermint cream. All over top your favorite New York Cheesecake.
If you love cheese cake and peppermint patty candies, then you need to add this recipe to your favorites list. It’s easy enough, anybody can make it!
The trick to this recipe is the use of #ConvenienceCooking ingredients. I started out with a packaged frozen cheesecake and worked it up a bit. Of course, making your own cheesecake is a great way to begin this recipe also. I was just pressed for time, so took the convenience cooking way.
I wanted a crisp and cool cheesecake to keep in line with the cold winter weather we’ve been having. I was searching the aisles of the store for some inspiration when I ran across some packages of individually wrapped mints.
My husband absolutely loves these candies! I usually buy a package for him as a surprise treat, and then just leave him eat the entire package. Generally he’s snacking on that package for just a few days.
But this time, I snagged a few of the candies before I poured them in the bowl for his snacking. Since I was going to be using them as toppers on the peppermint patty cheesecake, I had to unwrap them.
Somehow, a couple ended up being snacks for me during that process!
I cut them in half so they would stand on edge around the sides of the cheesecake. Because I wanted a nice clean edge, I used a thin sharp knife.
One of my paring knives is super thin and it worked perfectly. The other trick to getting a clean slice, dip the knife blade in a cup of hot water between slices. Be sure to wipe excess water from the knife blade before you slice the candy.
The peppermint oil I used was from the candy making supply counter. It came in a package of two tiny bottles. I thought I’d use it all up pretty quickly.
However, it’s super strong in concentration, so only a few drops at a time are necessary. I imagine I’ll be using these two tiny bottles for awhile.
If you have edible essential oils in a mint flavor, you can use them in place of the oil I used. I haven’t used essential oils much, so don’t have any recommendations

Awww Emma, sorry you don’t have peppermint patties at handy disposal! But sure you can make this cake with out them … do you have something like Andes mints? You could substitute those.
Can you believe that I have never made my own cheesecake. This looks delicious and like a great first one to try.
Dannii, I only last year made my first “from scratch” cheesecake. You can do it!
This looks like an incredible dessert. I wonder if you have ever tried Peppermint Essential Oil in place of the flavouring?
Heather, I have not tried any essential oils … I imagine they would be fantastic!

This looks absolutely delicious! My husband and I both love cheesecake and peppermint patties, I will have to try this out soon! I have cooked with my DoTerra Peppermint essential oil and its very strong as you mentioned this oil is, so it goes a long way.
Stephanie, thanks for the feedback on essential oils! I’d always suggest people start with one or two drops and proceed slowly!
This is the perfect way to end a meal. The chocolate and mint combo is forever a classic. Great to feed a crowd with…since you can get a lot of servings out out of that cake.
Gloria – so right! small slivers of this cheesecake pack a large enough flavor!
