Oven Roasted Broccoli and Onions
Are you looking for an easy side dish to go with dinner? This oven roasted broccoli and onions recipe is just what you need.
Using only three ingredients, this recipe comes together in just a few minutes. Then it’s hands off during the roasting. When you pull the dish from the oven, everybody is happy, happy!
Oven roasted broccoli and onions are full of classic flavors that go well with almost any main dish. Chicken? Check! Beef? Check! Pork? Check! Pasta? Check!
If your family likes broccoli and onions as a rule, they’ll love this side dish. The roasting process brings out the sweetness in the vegetables.
The simple scientific reason for that is that the dry heat helps the starch in the vegetable break down into the sugars that make up the molecular chain.
I found the perfect broccoli recipe for using this method. I mean, three ingredients … because, who really counts salt and pepper as ingredients!
Variations:
Oven roasted frozen broccoli in place of the fresh broccoli makes this recipe even simpler. Just open the bag and you’re all set.
Sprinkle in some red pepper flakes if you want a little heat to your dish.
Other spices sprinkled over the dish add more great flavor. Try garlic, oregano, chives, paprika or some curry powder.
For more color, add a red or yellow pepper, a carrot sliced in quarter inch slices or pieces of squash.
Make It a Meal:
Simple broccoli recipes are tough to beat! Serve this side dish beside Grandma’s Chicken Noodles, Sunday roasted chicken, coffee rubbed pork, beef tips, or even a sloppy Joe sandwich.
This is a good dish to take to an office carry in or family potluck. Just double or triple the recipe if you’re going to be feeding a crowd!
