Mason Jar Bean Soup Mix
Gifts that keep on giving are the best kind! This Mason Jar Bean Soup Mix is just that sort of gift. It’s great to receive it. Then you get to eat it later!
Simple to assemble, pretty to look at and tasty to eat, you’ll want to give this Mason jar bean soup to all your friends this winter.
Don’t forget to make one jar for yourself, it’s so pretty sitting on the kitchen counter!
When winter weather with all it’s cold, snowy, damp and miserable temperatures rolls in, you’ll be glad you have this bean soup mix on hand. Just pour it into the crockpot, add some water and dinner is ready when you get home from the day at work.
A three bean soup mix that gets it’s flavor from one of those onion soup packets, this is hearty enough to be a meal. Crackers or cornbread served on the side are all you need for supper.
A Mason Jar soup recipe that’s hearty and healthy is one that will please most all of your friends and family. The only ones who won’t be happy are the ones who don’t like beans … and that just means all the more for you!
This navy bean soup in a jar gets some of it’s flavor from bacon bits. I’ve found packaged real bits of pre cooked bacon at my grocery store. It’s relatively shelf stable, but you’ll want to use this soup mix within a month.
If you’re going to store the soup mix longer, you may consider leaving out the bacon bits until you make the soup.
Of course, if you’re gifting this Mason jar soup mix to a vegan or vegetarian friend, you’ll definitely want to leave out the bacon bits. Also, check the ingredients list on the onion soup mix you choose.
Variations:
I used white Navy beans, black beans and split green peas in my soup mix. I like the way the colors look in the jar.
You could use brown, yellow or orange lentils in place of the green peas. Kidney beans in a red or mottled red and white color would add a different look to the jar also.
When you prepare the soup, you can add diced celery, carrots and ham if you like a more hearty, stew like soup.
Make It a Meal:
Served with corn bread, Mason jar bean soup is one of life’s traditions. You can make either the Lunch Lady Corn Bread or the vegan Greek Cornbread.

Remember to add a tag to the jar with preparation instructions. While folks will love to get the Mason Jar soup mix, if they can’t cook it, they’ll be disappointed.
