I don’t know about you, but we are getting a bit of cabin fever at my house. We usually get this way in February. The weather is too cold to do much outside comfortably. The ground is either frozen or muddy. We have watched all our videos several times and we have read all the books in the house at least twice.
We have started talking about spring and all the things we are going to do. We have planned bicycle rides and hiking excursions. We have discussed camping trips and planned the flower beds. We are anticipating sitting on the deck with a fire and a nightcap.
Yes, cabin fever is catching hold. It is not gotten so bad that we have done anything crazy, like strip the wallpaper from a wall without a remodeling plan. Let us hope it does not come to something like that. In an effort to stave off a serious case of cabin fever, we made S’ mores.
S’mores are a classic camping treat. So we are able to pretend for a few minutes that the fire is not in a fireplace and we are not sitting in our living room, but rather we are at a campsite.
Make it a Meal:
Serve this treat as a dessert after a bowl of chili and hot dogs. You will really think you are at the campsite.
These taste like the real deal! The best part is, there is no mess from marshmallows falling off the stick onto the carpet. You will appreciate the mess being confined to a bowl and a pan, but not to worry.
You will also appreciate the sticky finger, chocolate covered marshmallow gooey-ness that will nearly convince you that you are camping! Or at least, that you are sitting in the backyard with a fire in the charcoal grill.
The real benefit to this treat in the living room is that when you have finished trading stories and eaten all the Indoor S’mores, you can just crawl into your own bed and not a sleeping bag spread over the lumpy ground that always appears under a camping tent.
