Independence Nutella Rice Crispy Treats
The Fourth of July is all about desserts! I know some people think it’s about Independence, parades, picnics, fireworks and baseball. But that’s going to change after you read this recipe for Nutella Rice Crispy Treats!
Talk about a winning combination! Rice crispy treats and Nutella all rolled up into one delicious, crunchy snack. Add some seasonal red, white and blue sprinkles and you’re all set.
Remember when you were a kid and your favorite aunt would bring marshmallow rice snack squares to the family picnic? Even the adults were sure to dig into that plate and empty it in short order.
The best part of the treat was the gooey, melted marshmallow stickiness that held all those crunchy rice bits together. Remember how you could stretch the treat out when you took a bite? Good times!
Now, imagine that same treat with some extra added yumminess. (Yes, I made up that word.) Chocolate and hazelnut sweetness from Nutella mixed into that marshmallow gooey yum. Think about that for a minute. I’ll wait. Nutella Rice Crispy Treats. Think about it.
You don’t have to just imagine it, you can have it.

Do you also remember that commercial that used to be on TV, where the mom “slaved” in the kitchen making Rice Krispi treats for her family and poofed flour onto her face to show how hard she worked before taking the treats into the family room? Yeah, this recipe is about that hard!
Nutella Rice Crispy Treat Recipe
Ingredients:
- 10 oz Mini Marshmallows
- 4 TB Butter
- 4 TB Nutella
- 5 c Rice Crispy Cereal
- 1.7 oz Red, White & Blue Sprinkles
Recipe Directions:
- Line a 9×13 baking pan with parchment paper.
- Place the butter and Nutella in a large saucepan on top the stove.
- Heat over medium-low heat until melted, add the marshmallows and stir until they are melted.
- Mix in the rice cereal and half of the sprinkles.
- Spread the rice mixture in the lined pan and pat smooth.
- Top with remaining sprinkles. Cool. Cut. Serve.
Tips for making your treats … wet your hands before pressing the sticky treats into the pan. The treats won’t stick to your hands that way. Use a pizza cutter to cut the treats into bite sizes. Less fuss than trying to use a knife!
