Deluxe Chocolate Chip Cookie Brownies
How do you make the best, classic desserts even better? Combine them! That’s exactly the trick with these deluxe chocolate chip cookie brownies.
I don’t know if you’d call this a life hack, or not…but the smash up of chocolate chip cookies and chewy brownies is very nearly the best dessert in the world.
My sister in law is a fantastic cook. I’m not kidding. Awhile back she made some brownies that were absolutely the best I’ve ever had… well, almost every brownie has been the best I’ve ever had. But these are definitely worth repeating!
She told me her secret. I’m going to tell you, too. Her trick was to use packaged mixes! When I made a batch, my son gave the recipe an All-Star rating. His exact words were, “This is everything that is right and good about desert.” I think that about sums it up.
Variations:
I always use semi-sweet chocolate chips in my chocolate chip cookies, but you can use milk, dark, or white chocolate chips. You can use peanut butter or cinnamon chips.
Mini M&Ms or crushed Heath bars are good mixed into the cookie dough also. Chopped nuts will add a bit of crunch and a reason to call these “healthy”.
I made my first batch by spreading the chocolate chip cookie dough in the pan first. Then spread the brownie mix on top. Another way is to spread the brownie batter in the pan, then drop the cookie dough over it. This way the brownies baked up with the cookie dough on top, some bites were mostly all cookie and little brownie.
Mary made her variation using dark chocolate icing. The result was a very rich brownie. You could use plain white icing. You can change up the icing to suit your mood. I’m thinking my nieces who are in elementary school would like to add sprinkles to the top of their icing. Feel free to improvise based on the occasion.
Make It a Meal:
Well, chocolate chip cookies and brownies sure aren’t a meal, altho they do make a wonderful mid-morning or after-school snack! They do make a great addition to the dessert table at your next potluck or family gathering!
