Deluxe BLT Sandwich
How do you make a classic BLT Sandwich even better? You add some Swiss Cheese and caramelized onions > and you’ve got a Deluxe BLT Sandwich!
The most difficult part about making this sandwich is cooking the bacon – and I’ve got a trick for doing that, too!
These deluxe BLT sandwiches make a perfect supper on a hot summer night. They’re filling enough but don’t weigh you down.
And the best parts … Bacon, of course! Swiss Cheese! Caramelized Onions! All of this adds up to a sandwich that you’re going to wish you have room to eat two or three.
Variations:
Variety is the spice of life. How to add variety to this deluxe BLT sandwich? Of course, there are hundreds of bacon options to choose from: Applewood smoked, turkey, vegan, Hickory smoked, Maple infused, etc.
I used a baby Swiss cheese. You can use regular Swiss cheese. Or change it up with a Cheddar, Gouda or your favorite cheese.
Mayonnaise or Salad Dressing? There’s an eternal debate. I use mayonnaise for some uses and the Miracle Whip type salad dressing for others. If you’re not a mayonnaise fan, you can dress this sandwich with mustard, Dijon Mustard, honey mustard, barbecue sauce, ketchup or even Tartar Sauce.
Tomatoes are coming into season so you’ll have plenty to choose from when making your deluxe BLT sandwich. I used Roma, they’re easy to slice and are firm enough to hold up in this sandwich. Any sandwich slicing tomato will work if you don’t have Roma on hand.
Lettuce – your favorite leaf lettuce works in this sandwich. You want the larger leaves for easier stacking.
Make It a Meal:
Serve this sandwich with chips for a quick lunch / easy supper. You can add potato salad, Italian pasta salad or nachos and salsa. Don’t forget some cookies for dessert!
