Christmas Cookie Extravaganza
Christmas cookie extravaganza! That’s what I’m going to name my next cookie exchange party. I love all the cookies that come out during the holiday season. I wish we would make more of them year around.
This collection of Christmas cookies is just the start of this year’s holiday baking. I usually begin with a simple sugar cookie and venture into dipping goodies in chocolate. But I’ve found a whole buffet of cookies that cover the rainbow of Christmas cookies. Therefore, the name: Christmas Cookie Extravaganza!
My mom’s trick for making sugar cookies that were to die for – roll them out in powdered sugar. I know many bakers use flour to roll out the dough for cutting, but let me tell you, using powdered sugar takes those cut outs to a whole new level!

We always used colored sugar crystals to decorate with, simple designs made from red and green were our style. No fancy icings or sprinkles for us. You can imagine the mess we made with powdered sugar dust and crystals every where! It’s no wonder mom only let us make these cookies once a year!
