Buckeye Cheesecake an Ohio State Favorite
OH-IO! It’s football season and in Ohio, that means Buckeye football. This Buckeye Cheesecake embodies the spirit of the state and the football fans by incorporating the favorite flavors of Peanut Butter and Chocolate.
This no bake recipe mixes up in short order and requires a short time chilling in the refrigerator. That means you can mix it up just at kick off and it’s ready to eat at half time!
If you know college football, you know the Ohio State nickname is “Buckeyes” and the mascot is Brutus Buckeye. You also know that football Saturday’s mean tail gate parties and lots of good food.
A classic Ohio dessert is a candy called Buckeyes. It’s a peanut butter center shaped like a ball and dipped in chocolate. An edge of peanut butter is allowed to remain uncoated so the candy looks like a nut that falls from trees in the autumn season.
School children collect the buckeyes as good luck charms. Adults drill holes in them, string a series of nuts into a necklace along with red and gray beads. People of all ages wear their Buckeye necklaces along with their team’s logo on t-shirts every Saturday.
Residents of the state and fans everywhere take Ohio State football seriously. So seriously in fact, they have a name: Buckeye Nation.
In many crowds across the United States, if you yell “O-H” an echo will come back from at least one other person (and often more!) “I-O”.

This cheesecake pie boasts a peanut butter cheese cake base, a sprinkling of chopped peanuts and chocolate chips, topped with a vanilla pudding and drizzled chocolate syrup.
All of this goodness is encased in a chocolate graham cracker crust. It’s really quite delicious, but best served in small portions due to the richness of each bite!
Honestly, is there any better flavor combination than peanut butter and chocolate? Reese’s cups feature this flavor mix. Granola bars combine these great tastes. Trail mixes add a few other salty nuts and some sweet raisins. But simply paired together, the snacking crowd will finish off a large bowl of peanuts and chocolate chips before the color commentator can describe the starting quarterbacks of both teams.
That’s the flavor that abounds in this Buckeye Cheesecake. Peanut butter and chocolate coming at you from every direction.
For added decadence, some whipped cream is swirled around the edge of the crust and a dollop in the center of the cheesecake. Go on, you know you’re drooling for some of that spray can whipped cream that is neither healthy or explainable. It doesn’t matter how it comes out of the nozzle … it just matters that you have some on your serving and a finger-full popped in your mouth when nobody’s looking.
Go ahead and spray a bit for the dog while you’re at it. Dogs love spray whipped cream as much as anybody!
