Basil Pesto Pasta
Are you looking for a light supper or a cool side dish? Do you have basil from your garden looking to be used up? This basil pesto pasta is the recipe you’ve been looking for.
A light, easy to make, refreshing pasta that works as well cold as it does warm, this dish is as flexible as you could want. The best part, it takes only a few minutes to make!
There are times when you want to eat pasta, but you’re not looking for a heavy lasagna or hearty ravioli. That’s the time when you want a light pesto pasta dish.
This recipe works very well as a side dish, but can be fancied up to serve as the main entrée.
I used walnut basil pesto, made from the fresh basil in my garden, but you can mix this up with purchased fresh basil, or even a jar of pesto sauce.
The halved red cherry tomatoes were a great addition for flavor, as well as colorful. They also came from my garden. We’ve had a good garden year.
Variations:
Shell macaroni is the pasta style I used in this basil pesto pasta, but you can use any shape of pasta you have on hand.
If you want to serve this as a main entrée, dice up some chicken or ham and toss in the dish.
Some green peas, diced orange carrots or some baby corn would make a very colorful and appealing dish, as well.
Make It a Meal:
Serve this dish beside your favorite grilled chicken, fish, steak or pork chop.
