4th of July Fruit Pizza Recipe
Fruit pizza done up with strawberries and blackberries can easily be the star of your 4th of July picnic. This 4th of July fruit pizza recipe makes the most of packaged cookie dough and fresh fruit, which means you’ll have more time for picnic partying!
When the weather gets hot, my family does’t want rich, heavy desserts. They do, however, clamor for more when this Fruit Pizza disappears from the table. “Is there another one in the house?” I’m hoping some of them read this post and learn how easy it can be to make their own.
The great thing about this fruit pizza is that you can mix up the fruit topping and use whatever is in season. In the winter, I like to use citrus fruits for that warm tropical feeling.
In the summer, I like the patriotic look of strawberries and blueberries or blackberries. These berries were so ripe, they almost look purple instead of black.
The cream cheese topping is light and creamy, without being over the top rich. In fact, this fruit pizza would be a great treat to serve by the pool. I’m thinking of tall glasses of sweet tea, some cheese and crackers and this fruit pizza. Now if I only had a pool!

Strawberries have been in abundance at my grocer, so of course, I picked up another bunch this week. It seems like I’m always drawn in by the red berries with their beautiful green tops and the sweet scent.
And when they’re on sale 2 packages for $3 or even $5! I’m putting several boxes in my cart.
Thank goodness I have recipes like this to use them in! I’ve also used those fresh berries in several other recipes, including: Strawberry Pink Lemonade and Strawberry Spinach Salad.
Make It a Meal:
This fruit pizza and a cup of coffee counts as breakfast! For lunch, add a quick sandwich or small salad and you’ll be good to go.
Variation:
You can use grandma’s sugar cookie recipe if you want to build this fruit pizza from scratch. Or you can use a refrigerated prepared sugar cookie dough to make the crust for your fruit pizza.
I used a bag of cookie dough mix, sold next to the cake mixes in my grocery store, but the refrigerated dough would speed the process up just a bit.
If you’re really not feeling all “Betty Crocker” and want to skip mixing the cream cheese and sugar, you could purchase a can of prepared sour cream icing and use that as your cookie topping.
Trust me, I know all about the challenges of making dishes under a time crunch. Frankly, if you make it with love, it doesn’t matter all that much if the elves helped you prep the ingredients or if you started from scratch.
At the end of the day, the family appreciates the taste of the fruit pizza and they’re  not so worried about the fine points of your recipe.
