An Insulated Casserole Cozy
All the time I’m getting asked the question: “How to Transport a Crock Pot”? I gave some answers in this post.
As a self described “creative person”, I decided that I’d make a carrier to use to take dishes to the family potlucks.
I don’t know about your family, but mine is *always* doing a potluck dinner of some kind!
This cozy is my solution:
I picked some cotton broadcloth material in complimentary colors. (Don’t you love the Christmas Picnic theme?)
It’s reversible too! Classic red and white gingham can be used on the outside if you prefer the picnic theme. Or the standard dark green side can be turned to the outside if your style is more subtle.
Handles are sturdy 5/8 inch gros grain ribbon and double stitched into the corners. This insulated carrier offers a single handle so you can maneuver through doors or hold onto a child with the free hand. I know what it’s like to juggle a purse, a child, a casserole dish and your keys!
Once you have arrived at your dinner destination, fold the carrier and use as a hot pad to protect the table under your dish. Don’t worry if some of your food drips onto the cozy. The carrier is completely machine washable.
Size: 18in x 21 in rectangle fits most pans. I have used it with my 2 quart casserole dish, a 9 inch pie pan, 9 in x 12 in brownie pan and 11 inch saucepan. See photos for examples of pan sizes.
